Nice one mate,

You could buy yourself some new gear as a present to yourself too. One must always buy oneself a birthday pressie too.

Happy B'day for Friday

Yes its the Repsol Race Rep Cbr1000 RR-5 . Dobles web site sais they have some in stock. I wanna test ride 1st, No test no buy its up to the shop. I know its supposed to be a great machine but i'm not a bike mag journo with a track to play on so i want to see how it is in real life.

Another option is ZX10 or wait for the 2005 zx6 . I have ridden a friends ZX10 and found it a bit frisky. Maybe because he is 4 stone heavier than me and has it set up for him. I seem to be one of the few that like the look of the 2005 ZX6. So my options are open and at my age the insurance cost is not a problem.

Hehe, I must admit I do fancy one, it'd be the Black 05 for me though.

Although I'd put up with an 04 with a couple of K on the clock, hmm that's got me thinking . . . .

Zx - I'd been told by my local dealer that the Repsol colours were going to be very limited numbers, I'd be interested to see it up close. The 04 bike was fairly difficult to get hold of earlier this year.

I do fancy one but I don't know if I could really justify the change from the 02. It's supposed to be a nice easy bike to ride, the 954 is, but I recon I'd loose some of the day in day out practicality I've currently got.

Insurance isn't a problem for me either and at your grand old age you would probably get it for free! Wink

A few people seem to have a bit of a thing of liter bashing, or for some of those that ride them at least. For me, the point of a 1000cc is easy every day power, less gear changing and easy grunt. Yes you can't use all that power on the road and you'd need to be a talented rider on the track, but the same thing goes for a 600, a liter bike is just for the lazy rider in me. Rolling Eyes

You're in a nice position anyway. Get one out for a spin and tell me what you think.

I hear the blades are in short supply as well. I have plenty of time and not going to rush but I will take a test as soon as ones available. Will give the dealer a bell and see what they say although rumour has it that with so few they are not keeping demo's.

As much as I love the 636 the extra grunt and less gear changing a ltr would give would be nice. As I commute every day come rain or shine I dont want something thats totally unpractical just for the sake of having it.

As for the insurance, hopefully they will pay me.

zx636, I know a few of the mechanic's who work for Doble's, and I'm sure they only have 9, and at least 2 have been sold already - my mate did the PDI on them both. Dobles will let you take a test ride no problem - just bring your licence and one other ID and leave your bike keys with them. The Blade is supposed to be awesome - enjoy the ride! Thumbs Up

Oh, and the little matter of your birthday - have a good one!

I know what you mean about the practical side of things, I don't drive so the Blade's my only transport. If the 1000 is anything like the 954 then it will be a reassuring ride in all but the worst conditions. I've been really impressed by the bikes easy going, easy to ride nature, it's almost sort of cosseting after the R6.

The thing I like about my Blade is the under seat storage which is missing from the under seat exhaust models, but I'm sure I could make the sacrifice!

As for the demo ride, I know my dealer has sold all their bikes as soon as they arrive, so no chance of a demo locally. Good job really I suppose, otherwise the bank balance would probably not be looking too healthy.

My mate who PDI'd the Repsol Blades reckons you can manhandle the 04/05 Blades in the wet, and hammer them round bends and the electronic dampers sort it out.
