Well having not used the GPZ for the last few days I decided to go and give it a short run.
Only to find the brakes are now binding.

And I am wondering how I go about disasemmbling the caliper to clean them or if anyone has any tips.

Also it seems very weird to me since I had new brake pads 200 miles ago that they're now binding, it is something inherent with EBC pads in Tokico calipers? Cos the same thing happened last year on the GS500 I had.

Also if anyone one has a GPZ500S/ER-5 Workshop manual or Haynes Manual if they could photo copy the pages on the front brakes if possible.

If it's got sliding calipers it's probably got an attack of the road salts. A simple strip and clean/regrease usually does the trick.

If you have a look at a fiche it's pretty obvious how everything works, try www.bikebandit.com

There are two bolts hold the caliper on, it is a sliding caliper, you need to make sure the caliper is sliding properly, and make sure the pistons are moving in and out freely, my Son has an ER5, his front brake was sticking, I found that one of the pistons was siezed, I bought new pistons and seals, but probably could have got away with just the seals, spent 2 hours striping and cleaning, but reassembling was a 10 minute job.

Just one word of warning, I decided to replace the brake fluid at the same time, so I just pumped it all out while I had the caliper off, ..........trying to bleed it through was a pain, so I would suggest clamping the pipe when you disconnect the caliper and then bleed the old fluid out if you wish to change it, rather than draining completely.

How much are the seals and where did you get them from?

How can you tell if the brakes are binding?

Will they not unbind with a good squeeze/release/squeeze/release pattern at 30mph?
