Arais are shit, and I'm never buying one again.

(Unless they change the visor release mechanism).

Out of 1 years use, it hasn't been broken for maybe 3 months.

Moving parts are not conveniently covered under warranty, and cost absolutely loads. Which is really helpful cos the visor release mechanism is rubbish and breaks all the time.

Some one please tell me there is something wrong with my lid, because it likes to break all the time.

For £300 I really do NOT expect this.

I am not cak handed, and know how to use the lid, they are just very poorly designed.

Dunno about your lid, but there's something up with your typing...

[edit - it wouldn't be so confusing if you had left your post as it was originally now, would it?]

I seem to hearing a few compliants about that mechanism being a bit shit on Arais. They must know, or they are perhaps making too much from parts!

My Arai visor broke two days after buying it...but it did have a GPZ lying on its side on top of it at the time (without my head in I hasten to add).

I have had it for three years and not had a problem.

The rest of the helmet is made well, just this visor system lets it down.

Surely it can't just be me, though. Or I have a dodgy lid somehow.

How can you not have the same problem?

There is not much I can do now, I've had it for a while.

Its fiddly and made more complex than it has to be, and it’s not even well made.

The clips fall out, visor gets stuck, shields broke. Now today my baseplate broke as well. They cost £25 on their own. I wont be able to afford the upkeep of this lid, at this rate.

If the damn thing hadn't have costed so much in the first place, I would be rid of it ages ago.

Please don’t think the rest of the lid is cheap or bad, because IMO the rest of the lid is far better than the competition, it's just a shame that something as small as the release mechanism can let the whole lid down. Well for me anyway.

I don't really see what's complex about it. You lift the clips up then pull the visor out. Unless yours is different than mine. Take it to the shop and get them to show you how to do it to make sure your doing it right.

I'm definitley doing it right, I've had the thing for a year.

It just seems to fall apart whenever I try to change a visor. I am not exaclty using excess force.

Anyway I'm glad yours are all working ok. Mine will have to be cloth taped up AGAIN, just to keep the visor in place. Rolling Eyes

Is it putting the visor in or taking it out that's the problem?Sometimes if you don't locate the visor in properly when reinserting it, the cover can pop off the side. If this happened then yes, the clip will fall out. This happened to me once when I first got my lid.

or just don't take the visor off. You don't really need to, it probably takes longer to remove the visor, clean it, then replace it than it would have taken to just clean the thing in-situ.

if i were u claud, just get a one piece visor wich secures in place something like my HJC, or Shoei or AGV are any good example. the whole thing moves around a pivot as opposed to a bit sticking out of a visor.

It's not just you, it is a pain in the arse to change the visor and a crap design. I know someone else who has the same problem too.

The first time I tried it, it took about 15 minutes and I was ready to throw the thing out of the window!

Main problem is putting the visor in. Generally getting the visor back out is ok, but even when I take it out, it still feels like it will break sometimes. I’m sure it has given me minor problems/annoyance when taking it out in the past.

I'm sure I’m putting the visor in all right:

Position the clips mid-way and insert the visor down from quite a steep angle: between 0 and 45◦, untill the two sides click into place.

I have to change around the visor, because I use a tinted and a clear visor, no sunglasses.

You should push the clips up as far as possible. I just tried it there now. I removed the visor and reinserted it in less that 7 seconds. Wink
