Do you really think bikes need much in the way of advertisement? Most bikers are passionate enough that they appreciate what bikes there are and what they want next, even before they get there.

Another point is that bike brands last for donkey's years. Gixxer, GPZ, CBR, CB, CG, etc? Those ones have been around for ages. They know we don't want an entirely new product because we're bored of the old one, we just want even better versions of their previous ones.

Yeah suzuki used to have adverts during the motogp.

I guess because its just not suitable way to advertise bikes... You would be paying to advertise to 95% non-bikers. Waste of money.

Cost of one bike TV advert could pay for 20 full page magazine adverts in bike magazines...

Yeah, the advert that dragged on for ages while you're missing the GP, shouting "Just get on with it!"

Only if its a national broadcast, doing it regional doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

That's the logical answer, though it makes you wonder why people like Compaq advertise servers on national television. Brand awareness I suppose but the majority of people must be going "what's a server?".

I've seen the odd Yamaha advert on eurosport too, so they do advertise when and where they are going to get most value for money.

I can't see why IBM feel the need to advertise like they do either. Every time I see the adverts I think 'geeks'.

Seems when MotoGP's on 90% of the ads are for bikes.

Worst ad ever: The one with the ex-racer and the bloke with the worst voice I've ever heard. "Cornering... acceleration... top speed. Two Wheels Only: Read it, believe it" Sick Brick Wall

Exactly, although Compaq as a company don't exist, since they've been eaten by HP now. They're something like the seventh biggest company in the world and think of all the other things they do, like PCs, PDAs, printers etc that the average person in the street might buy. "Oh HP, I know them. They're big, so it must be good." etc.

Or they think they know what it is, head down to Newquay and ask a local "Have you seen the Compaq Surfers'?"

Companys won't spend thousands on advertising things to the minority (especially when they know what they want). Bikes are not something you buy because you 'saw one on the telly'.

Also, Honda do TV ad's for nothing in particular. Like, hi, we're Honda...just so you know Rolling Eyes It's all about selling an image to a target audience.

I laugh out loud at the IBM ad's and my dad stares at me in amazement, but then I am a geek Embarassed
