Now im beginning to wheelie with confidence, bump start and ride the bike backwards (truly funny) i want something newer and more exciting to do on the old hog.

One of my mates wheel spins his car all the time and i was wondering if its possible to wheelie spin an old CG125, and if so how??

Yeah, course it is easy to do, although por cg125 Sad

I'd assume its just hold front brake down, rev, put it in first and let clutch out slowly....making sure the front brake is definetely pushed in hard!!!

Do it in the wet, bit easier....and in a non-public area....well, a quiet one Wink

well erm, if your not on a realy grippy road, and your tyres arent yet warm, stick in in first, hold in the clutch, rev up, lean forward and dumb the clutch.

but its a bit dodgy Thumbs Down

i realy should have a disclaimer in my signiture Smile

Yep, wet road, lots of brake, lots of throttle, let clutch out slowly. Did it on my GS125 by accident Laughing

Yer poor CG. its 18years old, knackered, crashed, used in a field, dropped, kicked, wheeled, bump started, bump started backwards, left for a few years with petrol in, pushed to its limit many times, yet it still runs like a beauty and starts first time every time. Very Happy

2 strokes deffinately do, my mate bumps his derbi senda 80 (bored 50) backwards then rides it backwards, its hilarious.

I don't know why a 4 stroke shouldn't.

I cant seem to get my head round how a bike can be ridden backwards Confused . You mean you actually ride it properly, ie using the gears and what not, but it runs in reverse??

The actual mechanical bits just run backwards. The piston still goes up and down, just the crank spins the other way. Prob would do the camchain tensioner any good though (if you've got one).

Not sure how well electrics work backwards thogh. There used to be some old bikes that would run backwards on their own if you let the revs get low enough.

Random fact - golfcart engines (2t) run both forwards and backwards. The engine slows to to a set speed, the ignition fires way before tdc and forces the piston back down and runs backwards until you want it to run forwards again. I assume the ignition timing also changes.

ski-doo's also use the same feature. Might be something to try in the future...

Hi

Cannot see how a 4 stroke would run backwards. If you tried the exhaust stroke would immediatly follow the intake stroke so all the fresh mixture would go straight out of the exhaust.

Also if you tried it on most engines then you would probably do serious damage to the cam chain tensioner.

All the best

Keith

Could someone explain the difference between four stroke and two stroke? I understand (some) of the differences in running it, but don't acually know the mechanical difference??

https://auto.howstuffworks.com/engine.htm for four strokes.

https://science.howstuffworks.com/two-stroke.htm for two strokes.

Pretty nifty stuff.

4-stroke 125 https://www.fastbikesmag.com/jw_7l.jpg

Wheel spins reasonably easily as long as you're generous with the throttle Wink

2T engines will run backwards, 4T engines wont as you would be blowing banging squeezing then sucking instead of sucking squeezing banging and blowing. Laughing
