I've had my ta a couple of days, i'm finding the clutch and gearshifts a bit weird and as a result its giveing the ride a bit of a see saw effect, i'll get used to it i'm sure... certainly got allot allot more poke anyways!

The other thing my girlfriend noticed is the lack of anywhere to grab! haveing small arms (not like a velocer raptor, she is just small in general) she cant really reach arround me, and the rack is too far back to reach propperly...

Two things i as thinking of, first off was getting some pillion holder things, they go arround the riders waist and the passenger holds on.. the other was makeing some sort of grab rail, any ideas of how to go about it? Dont want to put a top box on because it will make it harder for her to get on and they cost a bit (and look pants)...

Any ideas/tips?

Get a new girlfriend? (joking of course)

the 'Love handles' work a treat especially if they are nervous and would prefer to hold onto you instead of behind them.

But there is the slowing down problem, bashing helmets and the nutcracker affect as she hasnt got anything to brace herself against.. and remember where that fuel tank is!

If she is able to reach around ( Exclamation ) then a common tip is to lock her hands around you similar to if she was using the love handles and then when slowing down brace herself against the tank itself with her hands...

Added bonus she can give you a good twist if you scare her!

I found that someone holding on to me when I was riding very un-settling. Also when I was a passenger I found it much easier to hold onto a grab rail as it meant you didnt crush the rider when they decided to put the anchors out!

I know someone with a Transalp, and I could have sworn that it's got grab handles a bit like a cross between those on the VFR 750 and the F650... Thinking

When you are changing gear, don't pull the clutch all the way in and don't close the throttle all the way. Keeping the revs up a bit and just 'slipping' it into the next gear makes for a much smoother change.

Difficult to describe, I find the throttle about 1/4 open and the clutch 1/2 in when I change gear is about right to get a smooth progression from one gear to the next.

You'll get used to it, then holding on wont be so much of an issue. If you are really good at it, she should be able to comfortably sit on the pillion with her hands on her knees.

I change gears almost like that. Maybe a tad more on the clutch but throttle wise exactly the same.. When you give a bit of throttle while changing gears it makes a big difference... at least for me Thumbs Up

Thanks stinkwheel, I had great controll over the cx, the clutch was quite different (maybe just old and worn, for all i know it could have been the original one) changeing gears how you discribed, the throttle responds differently, the gears, the clutch engages different the spring pulls harder (and faster!) i'm sure it will all come easyer...

Defenately doing allot more leaning and coutersteering! slow speed controll is very very easy, did some filtering this morning that would have been pritty difficult before...

I can't see any rentec ones Sad apparently SOMEBODY does them, but only to fit the newer ta, however if you swap the rack over then it can be fitted onto it... https://ichiro.as.wakwak.ne.jp/en/tune_no029.html

I'm sure if i could find somebody with good pipe bending skillz i could get something to fit between 21 and 34, pretty much like the one i saw (a japanese bike so probably only available over there :/)

Personally I CANNOT stand going pillion, really, really hate doing it. So much so I've refused to go to work on the back of my old man's bike if he's taking it. If I had to though I'd use the Pillion Pal, know a few people who have reccommended them. Thumbs Up
