It is perfectly legal. I tend to wear earplugs after a couple of rides I had left my ears ringing for a day afterwards. Confused It makes a world of difference, though it does take a little time to get used to them.

Oh the wonderful inadequate nature of Chinese engineered silencers. Sounds very nice, but at 8-10k rpm for extended periods it doesn't do your ears much good. Mr. Green

Where's the "not personally, but I think they are a good idea" option?

Yup it’s legal like mchaggis said. I most of the time listen to music while riding. It’s annoying getting the earphones to stay in your ears while putting your helmet. I came across these while looking for helmet speakers. They are the only cheapish ones I’ve managed to find. I'll defiantly be getting a pair soon, save so much agro:

I listen to Mp3 player when commuting to work, I don't have it on too loud, just loud enough... hearing what's around me comes first then music second! It's nice to have music but you have to remember you're still riding the bike!!

I find I can completely switch the music off (not literally) but in my mind.. whilst I'm concentrating in a busy bit, but when stationary/quiet roads etc it's nice to have the music!

Just be careful what you listen to lol, fast paced music might make you ride faster Laughing

Previous topics aside...

...I find these little things to be the best option currently availible. I've tried quite a few different options and these are the clear victor in every category.

Due to their enclosed design and snug fit, they have a very pleasant noise cancelling effect and tend to resist the helmet's best efforts to pull them out while suiting-up.

More information can be found here.

Only sliiightly off-topic, but I'd recommend Deep Purple - Machinehead.

I've had it on my machine for months, but had completely forgotten about it until just now. It's pretty damned good. Thumbs Up
