Ice and salt on the roads in winter

hi all
im planning ahead a few things for january but i need to know how do motorways are usually like in january in central england. i know it'll be cold, but im more concerned about ice, and grit. so, on a typical january day, on how many days of the week is it likely to be salt on the motorways? perhaps even if they didnt grit it that day, there will be salt from previous days. this is suposing it doesnt rain, which washes off the salt from the motorway,

Apparantly they changed the salt they use or something and now it doesn't wash off with water, so you have to clean your bike with bike cleaner stuff not just rinse off with water!

I would expect there to be residual salt lying on every road in the UK throughout the winter except immediatley following a good shower of rain.

Yeah i notied more this year than before that it seems to stick alot more, my poor exhaust is brown by the end of one journey in the salt!

Get some spray on autoglym or something, then just use that and rinse with ice cold water... works well enough.

ok, thanx for the replies. thats actually pretty bad news. So, i should expect to be salt or salt residues on the road every day in january?
