Pretty much as the subject says - First lesson tomorrow morning - what should I expect?

I did my CBT with bike-it in Paisley last week and now im back for my first lesson, 2 hours costing a grand total of £45 Confused

What should I expect? More off-road? Theory? Practical on-road??

Cheers

Theory will be minimal.
I doubt there will be any off road.

You will turn up, be briefed. Then taken out onto the roads. they will ask you to ride a basic route and watch you all the time to see what you know how to do properly. They will correct any basic mistakes you may be making (CBT level stuff that you've forgotten to do).

Emergency stop and U-turn come fairly late on, for your first few lessons it will just be safely navigating roundabouts, juctions, turnings, and passing parked cars.

You will spent nealry all the time making sure your doing shoulder checks and life savers.

As it's your first lesson they won't expect too much of you, but at the same time your paying so they will try to teach you as much as they can and will expect you to try to keep up.

Enjoy! Thumbs Up

Cheers - on the same line of questioning - does anyone think it would be worth doing one of their 3/4 day courses to get my (restricted) license? Sort of just get it over and done with way of doing it?

Why don't you do the lessons on your own bike? It'll save you money. I took my lessons with Bike It in Paisley and I done them on my NSR. Can't remember how much I paid though.

Actually, I done one lesson on their 125 bike and it was a bag of shit, which is why I used my own. I done most of my lesson on my 125, cause it was cheaper. Then had a couple on the 500s then done my test.

A two hour CBT???? Good god, mine lasted all day we spent two hours riding round a car park!!

For the full test I did monday and tuesday then had the test on friday. I think thats better than having the odd lesson here and there. Its all pricey though thats the prob!

I think he means that his lesson is two hours long.

My lessons were £45 for 2 hours aswell. Useing my bike only saved me a fiver so I used his (if you did this you got to use it in your test for free Smile). He/she wont expect too much of you, though you'll probs find out your only doing a couple of things wrong that you need to change. I had 3 2-hour lessons including one imediately before my test which was enough Thumbs Up

Thanks for the advice!

Was great fun - had to resist the temptation to get my knee down Wink Razz

Just drove about for 2 hours, did some u-turns and emergency stops. Got to go above 30 aswell (managed 65ish) and that was some feeling for the first time. Feeling a lot more confident on the clutch control etc.

Spoke to them and the chaps have booked me in for another 2 hours lesson next week and at that point they'll decided if i need 2 full days or 1.

I was thinking about doing it on my own 125 but to be honest with you it is only a fiver cheaper and if i total the bike well - gutted Laughing Plus its fully comp insurance whereas mine is only TPO.

Again though cheers

I just felt more comfortable on my own bike, It really wasn't about the money.

Who was it that took you out?

I done my lessons on my own bike until about the last 4 lessons when I used thier GN cause the instructor got fed up with sitting behind a two stroke! Plus the U turns which I could manage on my bike were a lot easier on the bigger steering lock, plus you had that speeding issue with a two stoke. An 11BHP 4 Stroke nearly needs your chin on the tank up to red line to get 30.

Wouldn't say I new them. I done my lessons with them. Is Brian the one with kinda greyish hair? If it is he is one of the better ones. There was another guy who smoked roll ups all the time. I didn't rate him as much.
