Finally decided to fix the dissasembled NSR in the garage unfortunately I am great at taking things apart (really good!). But am not so good at putting it back together.

As far as I can see the only things wrong with it are:

The front wheel is out of alignment.
The seat frame is slightly bent.
When I try and start it, it just sort of jerks forward a bit and makes weird buzzing sounds.
And all the fairing is totally cracked but that's not important.

How hard are those to fix and any diagnosis for the not starting?

Also is it a tricky conversion to put a standard headlamp on, and where on earth can I put the mirrors and indicators since there are no brackets for them anymore?

Long post but any help appreciated.

Cheers

Jan

Hi

For the front wheel, undo some of the bolts clamping the forkes to the yokes then bounce the front suspension up and down. As the forks are compressed they will tend to pull themselves back parallel.

For the rear subframe you can try straightening it or get a replacement. Replacement is probably easiest and best.

Check it is out of gear and get it started. Give it plenty of time to warm up and keep the clutch pulled. Hoepfully it will free itself off.

Headlights are easy to get, but the mirrors would be easier. Think there are mounting points for them on the clutch lever bracket / brake master cylinder.

All the best

Keith

Cheers, that has sorted most of it.
Still can't get it started though. I can't seem to be able to change gears. The clutch cable is still pulling but the gear lever just refuses to move.

Does anyone know where I can get wiring schematics?

Cheers

Hi

possible the gear change shaft is bent. Possible it has just seized the linkage. If you can get the bike into neutral then get it started. Might well be OK once everything is warm.

All the best
