Hi

Following on from my crash in october I have recently received a letter from the insurance company of the lady who pulled out on me, it says that repairs have been authorised at a garage I got a quote from. Now when I get the bike repaired can I keep the old fairings and other bits? Just a quick question as i don't know anything about this.

Cheers, Paul

If you ask the garage nicely they may give you the old bits but don't necessarily have to. Technically they are the property of the insurance company and as such you are not entitled to them. But most damaged parts are just thrown away by the repairing garage although I am led to believe that some not too badly damaged bits of fairing are sold on (by the garages repairing) to people who specialise in plastic repairs. They don't get much for them but it all adds up at the end of the year. So my advice is be polite and pleasant and ask the garage if they will let you keep them as a momento or something like that.
