i was just riding and my bike cut out.

the gears were really heavy to change, and my clutch has become really light (as in i can move the lever on the gearbox itself by hand) and the biting point is in the wrong place

i think maybe the gear oil has run out or something??

is it gonna be a gonner

Maybe sonething has come adrift on the clutch like the central nut that holds the basket on coming loose. It has happened to me before, then the whole clutch assembly fell off the splines and rattled about in the bottom of the housing. 5 minutes to bolt back on, twenty minutes to get at it, twenty more to reassemble and fill with oil.

I would drain the oil and whip the clutch cover off to have a look to see if anything is broken/loose.

went out to it this morning and the clutch was as tight as ever.

im thinking whrere the oil has obviously leaked out, the clutch could have seased (wet clutch)
and when it was sat the oil could have loosened it

If he doesn't brake it sometimes, it'll end up broken!
