I'm on a DNA 50. Set off on my usual journey to college this morning, i took it easy coming out of my road since the conditions were less than ideal - pretty icey. Pulled out onto the main road and thats where it happened. Back wheel hit some ice and span out sending me and the bike to the tarmac and sliding up the road along the ice. My leg saved the bike from major damage. (I was on the floor but still in riding position). I have a crack in the plastic from the intial fall, but no scratches and my leg's fine.... phew! My helmet didn't touch the grpund either so only my bike took the consequence of my fall. Wasn't shook up either... but only because i wasn't goin slow, seemed like i was sliding forever though! Nobody stopped to help though, cars just carried on driving around me!!!! I had to push it back home which took some effort since my shoes were just sliding on the ice and i had no grip! Hopefully this will be as serious as my falls get, since i don't fancy being knocked off by a car!!

Pride cometh before a fall, young padawan!

Sorry to hear about the off chris, sounds like you got off lightly, and certainly a lot cheaper than I did! Welcome to the club, you are in distinguished company, away from smug gits like Scratchy Wink

Sorry to hear. I remember hitting a patch of ice turning into a 10mph entry on my wee 50. Done nothing except bent the metal indicator bracket. Funny thing was, it fell and pushed the clutch in, so it ticked over in first for me just to pick up and ride off. Laughing

You'll find very few card drivers will give a toss.

I binned the bike TWICE last week, 1st time was my fault, go it out the garage and lost my footing, luckily it was on the grass, so was just a bit muddy.

2nd riding in Central London (enough said!) get knocked by some plum turning right with no indicator, clever move!!

I found myself riding the bike a bit over enthusiastically for the weather lately so to vent my two wheeled adrenaline fuelled rages I got myself a minimoto Mr. Green
Get all the abuse out of the system and then hop on the real bike and go for a nice smooth and safe ride to work. Thumbs Up

Bah, my first and worst off was entirely my own fault. There might have been gravel there, but I still (probably) put too much throttle on and got spat off.

Almost any single vehicle accident involving motorcycles is their own fault (usually due to inexperience/ lack of skill from what I read), even if it's just that they've failed to anticipate the fact that there could be diesel on the roundabout. At the end of the day, everyone is responsible for their own safety. If in doubt, follow Stinkwheel's advice:

If you starts sliding sideways in corners and feel the bike starting to go, I usually use a manouver that I like to call 'the monkey legs' which involves much flailing about of legs, banging feet of the ground shouting "ohshitohshitohshitohshit" and taking a big bite of the saddle cover with your arse cheeks (although I find this usually happens pretty much automatically Laughing).

nearly the same thing happened to me about a month ago
set off for work, it wasnt icy just wet but still i was taking it easy.
came up to this junction when a silly bitch in a Ford KA pulled out, i hit the brakes the front wheel sliped sending me flying into the car.
My Kawasaki AR 50 was wrote off Crying or Very sad and i had a gash in my leg which was down to the bone.

Which reminds me does anybody want to buy some Kawasaki AR50 Parts.
