Any of you nice people own/have owned one of these? I would love to hear your opinions on this bike as i think i am about to part with some hard earned cash on one. I commute daily and ride out most weekends. Occasionally i will wanna take it on short tours.
I hear it's a good all-rounder and quite comfy...even for a tall fella like myself. By the way it will be my first 600cc bike.
Cheers. Very Happy

I would say that a Thundercat would be a good choice as a first 600. I own one myself and it was my first 600 too, great bike over all. Thumbs Up

I'm a fairly short bloke and find it very comfortable, but I know tall people who own a 'cat and find it very comfy too.

The only problem that I know of with Thundercats is that they are prone to second gear problems, although the failure rate is still much lower than that of an R6 for example.

I've ridden one and they are lovely to ride. The Thundercat and Thunderace are both renowned for their silky smooth engines and user friendly handling. As a first 600 I'd say go for it.

i'd have no problems in recommending one
i'm 6'2 and had one as my first bike and it was brilliant - used to get about 140-160 miles out of the tank
(can recommend BT010 front and BT020 tyre combination as well)

they also hold their value well (only lost £100 on mine and took it from 3000 miles to 12000 in 9 months...lol)

Absolutely stonking 600. Does all you want it to do, scratching, touring and good for pillions. The cat has been overshadowed by the R6 as has the Ace by the R1, but they are a great bike. I had one up until I got my Ace. Have a look in here and say hello, you will get all the advice you need and more! https://groups.msn.com/YamahaThundercats/index.msnw

I had one as my first bike when I came back to biking and it was a good all rounder, I did track days, commuting, toured to the south of France. It's a bit heavy but I still think it's a good bike.
