It only happens rarely, and today was the day! Dry, not too cold and minimal traffic. Riding on the North Circular Road in London is usually challenging, to say the least! Today - no lorries or vans, a few cars - all driving with exemplary lane discipline and surprisingly the traffic light Gods were on my side so I was able to cover the 10 miles in 15 minutes! To coin a phrase from a well known song -

"I wish it could be Christmas everyday"

Merry Christmas BCFers - Be Safe Thumbs Up

I had the same experience. It was like the advert - "Where is everybody?". Merry Crimbo everyone. And remember the words of Tiny Tim - "God bless us - everyone". Thumbs Up

I'm driving up north tomorrow - hoping for nice empty motorway and weather permitting, the opportunity to improve my personal best time door to door. Twisted Evil

I rode 30 miles into glasgow today in the absolute pouring rain - utter miserable weather but I love it all the same. If I'm, on a bike, I'm always happy, regardless of the weather. Smile

Had a very quick run into work today on the A3. Very few vehicles about though those that were hanging in the middle and outer lanes!! Rolling Eyes
Contrastingly it was absolute madness leaving Fulham at 1:30pm though. Putney high street was jammed solid and even the filtering was slow going. Plus add to that the 5 pedestrians who walked out between cars and didn't see me filtering past. That was in the space of 150 metres and there are numerous pedestrian crossings. I'm as guilty of doing that as the next person but I will do it where I can see left and right.
Anyway I have a week's holiday and I'm off to see the family. Won't be on the bike for a week: think that's a record for me.
Happy Christmas everyone Very Happy

It is definately a good time of year to be on the roads Thumbs Up

Last night, it took me the longest time ever to get to my friend's house, due to everyone driving at 20mph and braking for corners and approaching cars. Evil or Very Mad

On my way home at around 1am however, the roads were empty. I had the best run around all of my favourite lanes that get ruined by traffic and arrived home in record time Thumbs Up

I'm hoping for a repeat of this tonight Dance!

I worked today, London was very quiet, that was until I got deliveries taking me to Peckham and Crystal Palace, it was GRIDLOCK in Peckham. Took me ages to get through that lot, got to Crystal Palace okay but it started to rain a bit. Got to Croydon, that was a bit of a bugger but got home in one piece.

Twas dry and sunny when I left home, bloody raining when I got home. I'm glad I didn't take my best bike today, no way am I getting that bike wet. (well not until the other one is worn out first!)

I wished I had a Honda Rebel, I could really do with a nice ride on one this holiday period.

Agreed! Thumbs Up

There's nothing better than having a road that's normally full of half-blind morons all to yourself, or as close to it as possible. I had the privilege of visiting the grandparents on the 25th and it was a great ride with hardly anyone around to nearly kill me as is usually the case. So has been my ride to work the last couple of days as it's been the Holiday weekend and it seems everyone's either sleeping off the massive amount of alcohol they consumed over Christmas or out of town visiting more well-to-do relatives.

Unfortunately, that's all over as the rain's started again. Oh well. Karma
