Does anybody know anyone who has a new GS500F and does anybody know if it is possible to get one restricted to 33bhp.

Any help would be great. Thumbs Up

Ah the GS500F Cool I was talking with a Suzuki salesman last week, as I want one in January after I pass my A2 test.

Yes, they can be restricted and if you buy from new, they will fit for free. PS the restrictor kit is supplied by Suzuki themselves.

Was looking at getting this bike next year, however after actually sitting and viewing it at the NEC, I am gonna stay away, the fairing looks absolutely rediculous as it pokes out about 10 CM either side of the bike, so it looks like a real obvious add on to a bike. Smile

But that's the point. I've got a naked 125, top speed 60-65. The Suzuki will do 85mph (restricted), with me nice and warm behind the farring.

I don't like the view of the GS500F from sitting on it, from standing near it I think it is okay but you're better off (in my opinion) getting an older GS500 with an aftermarket fairing if you can find one, they are a lot sexier and faster, just don't kill it like I did to mine.
But as for knowing someone with one, nope sorry.

I've had a naked GS500 for about 8 months now. Got it new and they restricted for no extra charge. Fastest I've done on the bike has been 90mph at 8000rpm.
Thumbs Up

Well the GS500 is one bloody good bike to start on, as are all the 500s.

The GS500F is basically the same bike as GS500 but with clothes on so it can be restricted. And from experience of the naked GS it copes very well with it, mine had a top speed of 95MPH @ 33BHP and the faired version maybe a touch faster.

As the others have said though you may be better off getting one of the older GS500's with an aftermarket fairing as there is plenty about and they're cheaper than the GS500F. But do be aware that some of the older models do suffer somewhat with overheating in all that plastic, and can cause the engine to die prematurely, the GS500F however overcomes this with the addition of an oil cooler.

All in all they're blooming good bikes and I would recommend one to anyone who's a new rider.

My 500cc FAQ I compiled is here, You may find it some use to you. Smile

90mph was as fast as I've been on a bike. I think there was a little more speed to be had.

Yes it should fit the new faired ones fine, Suzuki naver changed the mounting point or the anything basically, so it should intheory fit OK, the only thing I can see as a problem is getting it fitted with the oil cooler in place.

Contact motad for more info, www.motadexhausts.co.uk should have their contact details.

£3349 is the Unfaired one, though recently I have seen offers for the faired one for around £2999 Preregistered. Not bad considering the list price is £3649.

I bought my unfaired GS500 for £3200 in April this year. The restriction was included in that price. They were also doing the unfaired Bandit for £3950 at that time. Might be worth looking at a Bandit as with the new one coming out early next year you might be able to pick up a bargain on the old model.

Aye I seen the prices on the bandits in my dealership, just passed my test at last the other week. Think the bandits insurance is gonna be to high, because I was looking something fully faired which I think makes it a group higher?
