hello all,

I was playing with the kmx today and noticed it was smoking white smoke Mad and coolant was running out from the kips valve, so i whipped the head off and the gasket is fubbered Shocked plus the gearbox oil is creamy like baileys Question , is there a possibilty that the seals could of gone between the water pump and gearbox... possibly due to frost? who knows Confused

anywho, where can i get reasonable priced parts from Question

Cheers
Jon

Fowlers in Bristol might be good ????

For the oil in the bottom end to be creamy white it could have seeped through from the leaky head gasket... this is most likely cos of the white smoke u described... could be the seal between water pump n gearbox BUT........seems most likely for the head gasket to be the culprit tho...

The engine is a stroker, so the gearbox oil dont come into contact with anything other the itself Razz ... the only thing i can think of is the water pump seal Confused

Are fowlers a Kwak dealer?

Nope, in fact, I haven't seen any Kawasakis in Fowlers...but they may still do some parts. Give them a call on 0117 9770 466 (you will need to be asked to be put through to the parts dept).

Alternatively, there's Bristol Kawasaki, which is just down the road from Fowlers.

Or another possible place, Barton Motors in Bath.

https://www.bartonmotors.co.uk/

I think that they're somehow semi-affiliated with Bath Uni MC, so you may possibly get some sort of discount if you blag it and say that you're part of the club. Razz

As for the damage to your wallet, sorry mate, no idea.

Hi

Cradley Heath Kawasaki normally have most things in stock.

Yes the water pump seal could allow water into the gearbox on most 2 stroke. However seems strange that both the head gasket and that seal have gone at the same time. Think I would be tempted to replace the head gasket (head might need a light skim) and flush the gearbox through in the hope that it is just condensation from having stood for ages.

All the best

keith

well if there was no anti-freeze in the water your cylinder/head/water pump might of cracked due too the water freezing (freeze thraw effect)

Fowlers are a bit 'funny' with parts. I went in for a pair of mirrors and the guy asked for all the details of the bike. Cue confusion as the bike doesn't really exist as a new model - imports, doh! Anyway, I didn't care what the mirrors looked like so I said some from a CG125 would do. They refused to sell me CG mirrors, saying "We only sell original parts!" Then he said he could put some on order for the 1989 model and they would be £22.50 plus vat...each. Final bill £52.88. I got a pair from the web in the end, £22.35 delivered.

Just my experience...

...And everyone elses, I reckon. Wink

Having said that, there is often a good chance that you can get what you want from there, assuming that the person at the parts counter knows how many wheels the average motorcycle has.

I have many many stories that could be told (from personal experience), but there isn't enough space on this forum. Laughing
