Well having noticed quite alot of play in the rear end of my GPZ, I thought it maybe time to replace the illusive UniTrak bushes on my bike.

But having heard OE Kawasaki ones last no more than a 1000 miles if that, Is there an alternative?

Hi

I would not say they last under 1000 miles, I would say they are knackered when you put them in place. Last ones I bought (new steel and plastic bushes) had ~0.5mm of clearance when brand new out of the packet. Thick grease might disguise this for a short while, but still rubbish.

Personally I would get some new plastic bushes and then get a local machinist to make up some slightly oversize steel bushes. Probably what I will do in the future.

All the best

Keith

I got a mate who is handy with a lathe to make up some phosphor bronze bushes and new sleeves to fit then drill and tap the unitrak casting to take grease nipples. This is how it should have been made in the first place.

I just brought him the whole unitrak assembly and he did the measuring up.
