S**t mate don't joke on things like that. I guess you know him and he wouldn't do that but someone may just take you seriously, until they head straight into a junction with no brakes.

It's probably because you have new pads they squeak. Did you remember to brake gently at the start of using them? If not chances are they're glazed and need taking off and roughing up again.

You could try putting lubricant on the pistons on the back of the brakepad. I think it's copper grease that you use or something like that. A search on here should answer that.

Get some "coppaslip" from Halfords.

Take the pads out again and smear the back of the pads with it, only a thin coat. As flat spot said, rough the glaze off again.

It may be that you have a hard compound pad for longevity, and these have a habit of squeeking.

If you use yer bike through the winter take the pads out every third week and give the calipers a clean with spray on brake cleaner and sort the pads again.

DON'T get the coppaslip on the pad face as it tends to soak in and can ruin the pads.

It's good to get to know yer bike a little better as well Thumbs Up

Workshop manual, or better still, a couple of digital photos of how it looks.

Once you've done it the first time it gets easier, fnarr, fnarr!!

You can't really go wrong. The only thing to be careful of is spreading the caliper pistons to release the pads. Make sure that you take the top off the resevoir and put a rag around the edge of it.

Try and get a mate who knows what's what to walk you through it and then do it yourself. It's one aspect of maintenance you really need to get to grips with, you'll have more faith in the brakes if you do. Wink

You saying that, I used to work in Eddy Grimstead Motorcycles up on the A12 Newbury Park Ilford before it went bust.
There was a bloke employed there that put all the new bikes together and he found that his brakes squeaked too, he done just that and sprayed WD40 on the discs, what a twit. Just think though, he serviced and put peoples new bikes together for them....no wonder they went bust.
Eddy Grimstead was a twit, so no wonder he employed them!!

Well i dared myself to do it lol.

I ended up taking the calliper off the disk because i could not get at the split ring thing which held the pin in. I simply pushed copper grease between the pistons and the back of the pads. Back together now and not a sound, and still great stopping power. Thanks for all ur help People.!! Very Happy

But one thing....I really dont understand how this has actually stopped the squeaking. can anybody enlighten me?? Confused
