hi all

Was just wondering if anyone could enlighten me? just checked my oil level and i noticed a build up of gunk(creamy in colour) on the inside near the dipstick Confused
The oil seems fine, a slightly dark honey colour and my bike (hornet 600) i've had no problems with. Am i worrying over nothing or could it indicate engine trouble etc...?
Any help would be great

That sounds like water in the oil, you want to be changing that ASAP.

Hi

Water in the oil. However sounds like only a small amount so probably just condensation from lots of short journies. Give it a good run and it will disappear probably.

All the best

Keith

I'm with kickstart on this one. To be really sure drop the oil and check it. If it's ok and pretty new, then put it back in, or for the sake of £30 put some nice new stuff in. Putoline is my favourite. Wink

If you're going to drop the oil to check it, you might as well replace it. It's not that expensive, and it's better to be safe than sorry. Thumbs Up

Again, agree with kickstart. Sounds like a bit of mayonaise resulting from some condensation in the gearbox due to the cold weather. A good run should see it gone, it is unlikley to do any damage.

If you decide to do an oil change, Hein Gericke are doing an offer where you get a free oil and air filter if you buy a 5l container of semi-synthetic Motoul oil. This is a very good deal.
