Hi there

thought i'd share my experience with you lot as i've learned alot from yours (hope that make sense!)

I was out riding last night (not at all fast c. 30-40mph) come up to a corner then a steep hill, at the top of the hill the front of my bike managed to come up a little (wheel came of ground), and where I was unprepared for the shock of coming up/down (no jokes pls Smile), my hands were litterally pulled off the handlebars... Lukily I grabbed them but i thought f**k i could have easily come off then...

Unlucky. I almost came off when i went down a road that had those long speedhumps. I was doing about 35 and i thought 'shit!' i didn't come off but the suspension had quite a test! Shocked

Reminds me of an accident I had on a friend's Gilera Runner SP. I went a bit too fast over Somerset Bridge (smallest drawbridge in the world, so basically a short lump with a closed gap in the middle), the wheel hit a rut in the center and the bars jerked from my hands, sending me flying to the ground and doing a number on the ped. I blame it on the suspension, which is about as effective as wooden forks would be. Like riding a jackhammer over bumps Thumbs Down.

I had a funny dealing with a speedbump, i was accelerating down a hill, doing about 60 at the time, slowed down, turned left, get back up to 60 and i missed the sign for telling me of the speedbumps, i went over it at about 50. The bike didn't make the nicest of sounds when landing. Sad

PMSL - can just see you doing that Youngun !!!!

I've heard that the best speed for speed bumps on my ZXR is 40, but as yet I haven't had the nerve to try that out.

Speed bumps = lots of brakes ! Not good when you are attempting to keep up with 125's Embarassed

Take the ones on the estate where I live at 25, standing on the pegs. Theres a really high (gotta be 12cm or more!) one that has my arse hitting the seat on impact, then off again when the bike comes off.

The last one is a bitch, its on the apex of a bend! Just imagine leaning and going over a speed ramp.

Our wonderful university have a speed hump on a corner too, clever them. Rolling Eyes

You can take them at 40 (so what if the uni speed limit is 15? Whistle) , you need to be standing on the pegs though, and I would make sure the front slope onto them is fairly shallow though.

Just make sure your front wheel lands pointing straight forwards in the direction of travel though, or it's tankslapper territory.

The best thing i've foudn to do on my near rigid bike is of hold the bars very lightly, loosen up your arms, stand up slightly so that your ass is off the seat but your legs are still bent.

The shock then comes up through the pegs and is absorbed by your legs. If the bars kink to the side at all you are ale to keep a hold of them Thumbs Up

Yeah guys nice one Thumbs Up

Keep hitting speed bumps at those speeds and you'll go through fork seals like nothing on Earth.
