Do mechanical speedos break often? Mine has (on the sachs), getting it replaced but was wondering if it's a common thing to happen. Aparently it's all jammed up. Will I have to wind it on to the current milage or just have a reciept saying milage before the change?

Cheers

Hi

They do not fail that often (suspect electronic ones fail more often), but the chances are that they will just supply a new one with the mileage at zero.

All the best

its a lot more common for the cable or the drive (at front wheel or gearbox) to go wrong......Always suspect these first

Been through a couple of cables and the drive is fine. Tried turning the clock but it wouldn't move as it's blocked. Thankfully the cost of a new one is only £35 including vat which is a bonus (garage first said "hmm, i don't know, but they're usually around the £150 mark" - you can probably tell I'm happy it wasn't)

Cheers all
