Not much decent Razz

£2.5 buys you my nice WR400 Wink

£2k might get you a DRZ400, great bikes, but you need to be REALLY tall to ride them, they aren't the fastest in the world and you'd struggle to get one at that price.

With a £2k budget don't buy anything that isn't already supermoto'ed, talon/excel etc wheels cost £500+ alone, then you need brake discs, caliper bracket and tyres.

You'd get an older XR650 for that money, good bikes if you like pink girlie bikes anyway.

For £2k you would easily get the likes of DR600/650, XR600 etc... but they are a different league to the competition bikes, i.e. EXC, WR, husabergs etc.

KTM LC4 is well out of your league, double your budget and you'd get one, insurance and restriction would be expensive though.

As far as I know, most supermotos do not have restrictor kits available so you'd need to take it to a suitable dyno shop for them to restrict it themselves, then dyno it until they reach 33bhp maximum power.

2what would you have to do to change say this into a moto ?

17" supermoto wheels is the first thing, some people only do that, others, like myself, go the full wack with revalved suspension, decent brake system etc.

You need to find some 17" moto rims that fit the bike, spacers and caliper braket. That'll turnit into a moto, but I haven't a clue where you'd get the wheels from for that.

I'd say the most important thing is a decent front brake and grippy tyres.

Not many grippy tyres are available for a 21" front, so a 17 will help a lot.
However the tyres on my (older) dr were pretty damn grippy for trail-sized tyres (they still had significantish tread as well, not like normal-bike road tyres).

I was happy to get my knee down and push it further with them.

You could get some new rims laced onto the existing hubs by a wheelbuilding company such as hagon. Expect to pay just over 100 quid per wheel
