Yesterday I came home to a horrible surprise on my door mat. Sad

A £100 fine for riding in the bus lane, even had picture captured from video. Mad Mad

The worst part is the offence was on the 20th Dec, so I am expecting at least another 5 days worth of fines. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Yes, very annoying - there are only two (three if you count the M4 bus lane) that you can ride in in London. Some bus lanes, if you get caught, will attract a fine and points. I avoid them like the plague

Ow, another five? Shocked

I'd never use them, just in case. One of our guys got done, two days in a row.

It was in Clerkenwell Road, EC1 (a stretch of bus lane less than 20 metres long)

The situation is very confusing in London, especially as a lot of bus lanes are NOT 24 hours (although very few people seem to use them during the permitted time).

I only hope Transport for London pull their finger out and decide to change the rules in a hurry. The lanes where bikes are officially allowed are part of a trial that seems to have been going on for ages now. Rolling Eyes

It seems interesting that on several occasions I have seen police bikes in london, and they have 'nipped' down the bus lane. (closely followed by about 15 bikes Cool )

I always avoid them as best as I can, although approaching Vauxhall there is one stretch where the only way to get through the traffic is through the bus lane, (not seen any camera's on that bit yet) Confused

yeah, in London, i choose to filter down the opposite carraigeway as opposed to using the bus lane. The only bus lane in my area where I KNOW I can use is the A41 buslane, but most of the time, cars have parked there. How comes they don't get busted??? and why even bother putting parking bays in bus lanes, which will obviously cause buses to move out of their lanes and conflict with traffic in the adjacent lanes. FFS, this situation is pissing me off as i was reading a related thread regarding the cycle areas at traffic lights. I guess everybody should have a holographic plate saying "FUCK YOU" if you get snapped, will be somewhat amusing though Thumbs Up

My gf got caught as well on that bit. The bugger is that she was in the lane just metres before a left hand turn. It really does get on my nerves, as bikes simply do not add to bus lane congestion.

Even us cab drivers get nicked in bus lanes (don't all sigh in sadness at once!)

The most ridiculous area in London is in Bishopsgate. We can use the southbound bus lane, but not the northbound Confused

The other farcical one is at the Angel. The widest bus lane in the world, and we can't go into it to pick up or set down as there are cameras all over the place.

Never been caught on the bike though so maybe being a cabbie is a good thing, prior knowledge and all that Wink
