I am organising a run for our club to attend the Simmer Dim rally on Shetland this midsummer. I have tracked down the ferry details and have some contacts for the rally but we were hoping to stay on for a bit afterwards.
Any info on Hostels, Campsites or biggish self-catering accommodation (like a chalet, static caravans or something) would be much appreciated as well as any tip for places to go and things to see. We like somehwere fairly remote if we can get it with reasonable access to a pub/off licence. It also needs to be accessable by bike and preferrably with some half decent biking roads roundabout.
Info on the web seems sparce at best and word of mouth in my experience can lead you to much better places.
For an idea of what we do THIS is what we did last year. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

I wouldn't like to be there now....
You seen the storms they're getting up there?
Fookin 'ell!
90mph + winds!
I saw pictures on the news tonight - boats are almost jumping over the harbour wall it's so bad. The houses along the sea front and getting pounded by waves coming over the harbour wall.
It ain't much better where I am, although I don't have flooding to worry about. but my house is exposed and it feels like the roof is about to be ripped off.
Nasty stuff.
Oh, and sorry for ranting on in your thread ____________________ Past: Honda NSR125R >> Kawasaki ER-5a2 >> Kawasaki ZZR-600e1 >> Suzuki GSXR-750Y >> Honda VTR 1000 Firestorm
