I took my Fazer 600 out for a spin last night, first proper blast since I stacked it in a blush-worthy highside incident a couple of weeks ago.

Now, with a nice empty A40 to play with, I've found out that my bike makes the most gorgeous noise ever!

If you accelerate in too high a gear to get any real power, you get a gentle surge of speed, accompanied by this superb gurgling rumble that eventually turns into a scream once you finally reach the powerband.

Totally fecking ace, I was braking to about 30 on the (empty) dual carriageway just so that I could accelerate again Very Happy

I'm sure one of you smart people can explain exactly WHY it does it?

Who cares Very Happy

As long as it keeps making the noise, it's irrelevant!

Even the noise from an XR 125 system with a piece removing from the air filter box sounds amazing - the induction of fresh air being driven through the whole unit Thumbs Up - It makes couriers turn for a second look Laughing . Can't wait to hear the same thing on a V-twin.

I love the noise too! Just before I sold my KR150, I rode around for a couple of weeks. The noise it made was incredible and can best be described as a husky roar (who ever heard of a two stroke engine being called that?).

From that two week riding experience I was so much safer around town. Every man and his dog could hear me coming!

Also, the effect that this sound had on other drivers was amazing. I'd suddenly get people pulling over to let me past, teenagers would constantly try to race me and, no doubt pedestrians wondered what the bloody hell was coming around the corner.

The only problem though, was whenever I passed the police station I made damn sure that I was plodding along in 6th gear, because as I mentioned earlier the bike sounded normal in low revs, and when it wasn't accelerating.

When I got back to NZ, and bought a GN250 in made a similar meaty roar (although on much less of a scale). First thing I did was open up the air box to discover there was no air filter inside. Now that has been fixed, sadly the beast (likewise, who ever called a GN250 a beast?) roars no more..... Not that the neighbours are complaining.

Agreed. I beleive the ZX6 has one of the best sounding inductions ever....

I'm upgrading to a sports 600 ASAP. I fancy a ZX6 but my sensible head is saying get an older CBR Thinking

My better half says she won't get on the back of a Ninja!!!

Acid - go for it. A promise - you definately won't regret it.

When I changed I was looking at GSX6R, CBR and ZX6R. GSX too radical for me, CBR just didn't do it for me, ZX6 blew my socks off. Very Happy

I'm with saints7, you should go for the Ninja Wink It is a wonderful bike, and now that I'm finally not so ill if the weather would just improve I could get out and about on mine!!
