As you said, if it was unsafe to stop you can appeal but you would need a sound argument and proof. If not put your hand out and take the slap on the wrist. Neutral

I was lead to understand the red llight cameras would only go off 1 second after it actually turning red...

You can appeal i'm sure, if theres somebody up your back end you cant just slam the brakes on + if its wet... ive lost count of the times ive thought "hmm that was a bit late but no choice" only to be followed by 3 cars Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad

You won't get flashed by a sinal camera for going through an amber, you will only get flashed if it has gone red, then a dely, I thought it was 2 seconds, then cross the line, if thats what you did its no good claiming it was amber, 'cos it'll be in the photo.

Either you were fine and it was a random triggering, in which case you will hear nothing Confused

Or, you will either get a red light fixed penalty or a speeding fine, if it comes through, they will have sufficient evidence against you for a conviction in court, so as has been said, just hold your hand out and take it like a man. If you go to court you are unlikely to win and it will cost you £30 more plus court costs. Crying or Very sad

What may be helpfull is that if you are to get a fixed penalty on it it should arrive within 14 days.

There's a red light camera in Chelmsford, you probably know it Kasandrich and there's been numerous occasions where it's been known to flash on amber.

If it was truely amber, it'll show in the photo and you'll never hear any more about it.

If the light was truely red, take it like a man and don't do it again.

basically it was late amber as came to the line, then i decided to stop, realised i couldnt stop for the line (wet) , so i then accelerated by which time it would have been red then got flashed

I want to try and get off it as i feel it wasnt REALLY my fault, just a minor misjudgement, and if i got 3 points then one 40 in a 30 and there we have it BANG goes my CAR and BIKE license (only 17 so 6 points)

if i say it wasnt safe to stop in time then will they just say SO what and make me pay..?

I don't think you have a leg to stand on, amber means stop, if you were heading through and it was late amber anyway, then you're going to have to expect it to be changing to red.

If it was green and changed to amber just as you got there, then fine, acceptable.

misjudgement or not, you broke the law, and potentially endangered life in the process. You've just got to pray the light was amber and/or the camera had no film in it.

Keep us posted.
