Hi chaps,

Just a quickie. Are there any issues hooking un a 12v motorbike battery to a car charger?

I have no idea what type of battery it is, apart from 12v.

Thanks!

Hi

It will be fine for a quick charge, but left on for ages it will fry the battery. They charge at a higher rate than is really good for a bike battery.

All the best

Keith

Hmmm, think I'll go ahead and buy a charger that can cope with bike batteries too.

Knowing me I'd forget and come back to a puddle of goo! Laughing

The Draper's Master Battery can be bought at Halfords for £20 or you could get a new charger that's good for cars and bikes from Halfords which cost about £30.

Depending if it's one of those intelligent chargers and knows to drop down to a trickle and, if not, then it could be potentially been damaged.

The Draper's Master Battery states that a bike battery can only be left to be charged for a maximum 20 hours.

So it's best to buy an intelligent charger to avoid potentially damaging a bike battery.

It must have dropped down to a trickle charging and will only top up if the charge drops then that's a good charger then?

Have you seen the Gianelli exhaust system for the ER-5 ?

I got a nice charger in Halfords that has a 'bike' button and a 'car' button, as well as a 'sealed' button and a 'not sealed' button.

Drops to trickle charge/conditioning when it's done so you can leave it on for as long as you like.

Thirty notes. Thumbs Up

Not surprised, all oxford products are shite, over priced shite!

Optimate, great charger, shame I've only used it twice in 5 years.
