Recently I really have a thing against nearly all scooters now after a certain board have wizzed me off. This is what people are thinking when they are riding maxi scooters.

Nah, it would just get removed.

Plus a load of people who are too scared to ride real bikes and think a 200cc single piston automatic scooter is a "performance bike" would Just flame me.

Those tits wouldn't know performance if it slapped them in the face with a wet salmon!

seems to me since I passed my test and got a bigger bike they have all turned on me! Thumbs Down

I saw one of those Nexus things in a shop today when I went to pick up a pair of boots. They look even worse 'in the flesh'

But the nexus is a 500cc V twin isnt it? Mr. Green
I was thinking along the lines od "Imposiblity" about trying to stick a nexus Lump in my speedfight Laughing
Id probably have to take my underseat storage out so I could get the cylinder in! But Itd be a well fun project! Imagine the speed Shocked

The rather nasty nexus is infact a 460cc single cyl but marketed as a 500cc single... Confused

And if you want to make your speedfight go faster, push it off a cliff.

Binge, if you really want to travel at higher speeds i.e. 80mph effortless cruising. Pass your test and buy something faster!

The maxi scooters serve a purpose. Comfortable, easy to ride, suprisingly nippy in traffic and great weather protection.
I'd use one for town riding over the ZZR or the hybrid in a heartbeat.

Dodsi, it looks like you have taken an amusing photo and used it to reveal a rather narrow mind.

Let's just clarify a few things.

The most important thing is that I have owned scooters for 25 years and I have many good friends in scootering. I have been fortunate to never lose a friend in an RTA. Sadly, my many friends who own bikes cannot say the same of their associates.

The Nexus is a superb machine. It handles well (no "small wheel" gags here cos their only an inch smaller than many sports bikes) and it accelerates faster off the line than many bigger bikes thanks to the CVT gearbox (you bikers have no idea how much time you waste changing gear!)

When I took the Nexus to the regular bike meet at Gt Bentley in Essex, NOTHING over took me on the way home.

Remember, few things are funnier than a biker with unscathed knee sliders.

Oh, and just in case you think I have tunnel vision about scooters, I am a regular at the TT.

Open your mind Dodsi. It doesn't hurt.

But nothing you have mentioned changes the fact that they DO look fucking ridiculous, which I believe is the only actual statement in Dodsi's original post.

Got to agree with nkd666 - maxi scooters do look fecking awful and its just the lazy bastards way of owning a powered 2 wheel machine.

Waste time changing gears? Sheesh, I take it you don't ride bikes? Its kind of glaringly obvious. Its all part of the enjoyment. I couldn't ride a bike without gears, it would be ridiculously boring and I'm quite sure 99% of bikers would agree.

Dodsi actuially Made that picture by cutting out Andy Pipkin (of little britan fame) face and plonking it on that guy on a nexus.

Also I used to own a scooter and I am glad I no longer do.

The nexus wheels are very small me and a fellow BCF'er (proximity) were looking at one in the local gilera/piaggio/honda/kawasaki dealership.

Are you someone from the Twistngo message board with a differant alias?

So what are you saying here? That people who ride bikes are more likely to die? It is not surprising that there are threads here that say 'scooters are crap' 'scooters look stupid' it is predominantly a 'bike' forum. Dodsi said that he feels alienated from the scooter forum as he rides a bike, not a lot of difference then really. And why is the most important thing here that you have ridden scooters for 25 years and have good friends in scootering Confused
