my kmx 125 wont start, iv just got it off a mate cheap, it has a good spark and very good compression!
but when he had it he set the carb on fire but put it out stright away but the fuel pipes were no good! can someone tell me where the pipes go
also i think fuel is coming out of the overflow(so im told), could this be why its not starting
hope you understand
thanks

If fuel is coming out of the overflow either the float is sticking (try gently tapping the side of the carb and see if the fuel flow stops), float height is too high or there is damage to / something in the needle valve.

In your case, it is also possible that the fire could have damaged the folats which are most likley made of plastic.

ill try and check tomorrow to see if fuel is coming out but shouldnt it still run anyway?
my m8 had put a pipe from the overflow to somewhere else on the side of the carb Question

Well worst case scenario... look on ebay and see if you can find yourself a KMX carb. shouldnt cost more than £20.

Blimey. Must be your lucky day. I've got one of those (carb) stripped out on my kitchen table...and another one on another of my other kmx's which'll be i'll be striping tomorrow. Buggered float needle I reckon. Wink

Can take a few pics if it's any help so you know what you're doing with yours, if you decide to strip it?

None of the hoses attached to the carb should go back into it. They should all be exposed to the atmosphere.

Saying that those carbs seem to suffer badly from getting clogged main jets. The one above that I pulled out a kmx that's been standing for months, was caked in gunk.

Should be 1 cable with a little plastic bit where it splits into 2 cables. As you said, one for the carb, the other for the oil pump.

Make sure you get the freeplay adjustment right for the oil pump though eh...
