Hello, i did a quick search but didnt find to much, i need to know something i can use to clean my carb out. ive striped it down but was thinking what to use to clean it? does it have to be non-flamable of anything like that? will WD40 or white spirit do the job or do i need anything perticular?

You can buy dedicated carb cleaner from any spares shop mate. Wouldn't use WD40 myself. Neat petrol or paraffin and a toothbrush will also be OK Thumbs Up

Carb cleaners are good (some of them) but an ultra-sonic bath is best, find some-one who has one as they are expensive and get them to drop it in for a while, you will be surprised at the difference! Laughing

lol thats an interesting one..
Anyway stripped it down and cleaned it all today using petrol and a toothbrush, and also let it soak in hot water for a while, seemed nice and clean, plus i know more than i knew before about the bike Smile Didnt have time to get it fitted back in though as it went dark so hope for good weather for tomorrow as i think i have plenty more to do.
Cheers for the replies.

Acetone, Carbon tetrachloride, Trichloroethane, dishwasher.

All of the above wreck rubber and gaskets so only use on metal bits.

Phosphoric acid works a treat, its better known a alloy wheel cleaner and its also in Coke. Wheel clener doesnt have a ny sugar in it, and it also has detergents etc. that help. Don`t use petrol as there is a huge fire risk, apart from the dermatitis effects. If you can get carbon tet it works well but keep it off your skin, it is absorbed through the skin and damages your liver.
