Saying that, I do work at the local University and the amount of them that go missing!

So they put them in high security cages in the ceiling.

People still get them by busting the cages with crowbars!

I think that you might be thinking about video projectors? I don't think that OHPs are normally actually used over your head, as such...

Not that type, the much cheaper typer, probably still found in schools; much bigger and are table mounted.

Though, oddly enough, I do have future plans for USD mounting Smile.

buying off ebay will be expensive, the postage costs, because these things are bloody heavy.

Maybe you could phone up a school to ask them where they get them from. Or if you have a friend with kids that go to school, get them to ask.

I might be able to help you out as you can get them from the consortium catalog (schools get everything from there!!!). Anyways I may be able to get hold of a catalog for you.

Cheers for the suggestions. Definitely not looking new, this is very much a budget project that I can't afford anyway.

Got one off ebay for £70 or there abouts.

It should do around 4000 ANSI lumens.
The plan is to build a video projector as per the guide on tom's hardware. I have a 15 inch TFT, I just need to find a ribbon cable of the right length and scavenge some fans to keep it all cool.

fuck!!

I have one I've been seriously wanting rid of. Would have only charged £20 for it Sad

Fair doo's, its an older style model, looks like an old school one, but I think its about 3500 lumens and has 2 new bulbs for it. Used it for video projection with an xbox I used to have. I used a Video projection panel, like the sharp ones that go for a lot of money on ebay. They are quite straight forward to make assuming you have the materials and time. Basically its just make it and then spend ages and ages getting your settings right. I doubt you'll ever stop tampering with it Very Happy

Although, to be honest, I'd have made a smaller one, like a 7" tft monitor like those discussed on diyaudio.com (projection forum) as then you can build a self contained unit, and put it up on the wall. Just like a proper projector but MUCH cheaper Smile

P.S You can extend the ribbon cable yourself so I'm told but this is a tedious procedure.

That'll teach me for not checking this section.

Oh well.

I got the 15" TFT for free from work (broken back light) so can't complain really Smile.
