Bit of a tit for driving at those speeds, but fair do's, he did admit it was a moment of stupidity. Thumbs Up

Of course, the thing he should have done was slow down, let the car pass, then ride up next to it and twat the wingmirror off Mr. Green

You only have to look at the "What have you had out of your bike" thread to realise that a lot of us have done that speed, and more though. Don't fancy getting stopped going that quick though - 108mph was enough to give me a heart attack when I saw the blue lights!

Because if you can't drive (and you need to for work), then there is a chance you could lose your job. If that happens and you don't find work, you could lose your house etc etc...

If you are a professional racer as Chris Walker is, he needs his licence in tact to race. A similar thing happened to Damon Hill i think ages ago and he pleaded the same thing. He got a larger fine i think but less time on his ban. At the end of the day yes he shouldnt have sped like that but like Silver says, who hasnt sped in their life time! Question ....

Bit gutted actually he's my favourite racer he wont be able to test for the next couple of months! Mad

I got away without a ban for my 108mph Praying

It shouldn't stop him testing, should it?

Purely due to your 'bike' not being capible of much more. I used to rag my 50 about like a maniac, yet found out after i did my test and started noting my speed/road speed ratio how little my ragging was getting out of my bike. And that was a beast of a 50 compared to ANY other 50 i got on.

If the bike in your avatar is yours, you havent had to cope with the 'i can do 0-60 in 5 seconds, from a rollon in 3nd i can go from 30 to 60 in about 4 seconds, and if i drop a cog i can do it in about 2. oh look, open road/slow car to overtake'

Not that i have ever sped anywhere Shocked

I agree i dont think anyone should be treated any different than any other person. But the fact that the guy speeds for a living has to rub off on you when you are on the road, it must almost become second nature, Although he was in a car and not on a bike.

I think it's easy to say that sort of thing in hindsight to be honest. In the cold light of day it doesn't always work.

I don't think anyone's been to jail for 120. I think 140mph+ is risking jail-time (and don't forget that most speedos read over so the driver/rider would probably think he was doing more like 145-155mph). It all depends where and when it's done though. 120mph on an A Road at 8am on a Monday morning will land you in the shit. Do the same speed on the M1 at 3am Sunday morning and the punishment won't be so bad.

Depends what bit of the A46 it was. Have a look at it on a map, yup, dead straight from Leicester to Newark. Its dual carriageway for a bit, which is very open and quite a fast road. The single lane bit is a bit dangerous as lots of the junctions are hidden. Just an observation of the scene of the crime.

How about 105mph up the bottom section of the M1 at Sunday lunch? I mean if they're going to put a rather straight perfectly surfaced motorway next to a high speed train line what do they think is going to happen???? Heard about the people testing their new bikes against Eurostars doing 180mph down the M20? Rolling Eyes

Only 60 days? Thought it would be longer TBH, People like that influence others so I thought they might be treated more harshly.

When you think about it though, if you were either a moto gp rider or formula one driver you'll be used to doing way over 100mph most of the time and 90% of the time your at work. So when it comes to driving on a road with speed limits it must become really frustraiting. Theres nothing right about doing those speeds on a public road, but if you have to do high speeds for races you just wouldn't be able to help it.

I think it was David Coulthard who said that he really hates driving because he spends most of his time going round tracks doing way 100mph and that he hates having to stick to the limit.

I know I would find it quite frustrating to go slow if I was in his position or maybe I'd have a little more restraint who knows?

David Coulthard drives a Mercedes Smart car, by his own admission. Laughing (That might also be why he doesn't drive very often, everyone in Monaco recognises him in it and takes the piss.) He was on the Frank Skinner show a few weeks ago.

Lucky Chris I'd say........

A biker was done for 145 at inverness sherriff court, and charged with dangerous driving too. He got banned for two years, ordered to take a retest, and fined £5000. He was also branded a lunatic, could have killed hundreds of innocents ( Rolling Eyes ) etc - the offence happend at about 1.20 am. On the same day, at the same court, heard by the same sherriff, and prosecuted by the same fiscal, a local PC was charged with speeeding, having been caught at 136mph, only 9 mph slower than the biker. He was banned for 1 year only, and got a £500 fine, a 1/10th of the fine for the biker, though had been speeding earlier in the day, with I presume more traffic around. Justice is great, isn't it?

Many people have, and many more will. Strangely kidies playing with cute fluffy kittens are rare on dual carraigeways so it rarely results in any accidents.

Na, just told to say that by his legal advisor. If he had said the truth ("what, is that all, I thought I would only be in court for doing something wrong") then they would have been harsher.

All the best

Suprising that if you say "I really need my license for my job" they don't just say "well if it is so important then you should have thought about that before doing xyz". Confused
