Hi all,
I just joined today.
I passed my CBT in december on a very coooolllld winter day lol
I had a suzuki gn125 but didnt really get on with it I dont like the styling but as a first bike i think it is a good idea. Also i had real trouble with the front brake it was a new bike but I either have weak fingers or something . I am however used to car brakes and the dealer told me theyll never be anywhere as sharp.
But the stopping distance was silly I do expect to stop somewhere near the area Im looking at.
Its been sold now but Im usure of where to go next I want a 125 that stylish but not to heavy and not to much of a handful as Im still learning .
Any Ideas?

Hmm, would you consider a cruiser 125?
Something like a suzuki gz125, or a kymco zing (plenty of others) They weigh about 140-150kg, look like big bikes but are easier to handle (obviously)
I would say stuff like an rs125 and mito, but they're far too expensive and from the way you've put it across, I think you may drop it. As we all do. Really, you just want a 125 that you can learn quickly on, pass your test on then get a nice bigger 33bhp bike |

But i seem to find with 125's second hand thier in terrible condition i sold mine it was pristine i cleaned it every couple of weeks and polished the chrome .
no one else seems to bother. ____________________ $UmM?r |

Some people ride their bikes, rather than cleaning them .
Bike brakes can be /very/ sharp (try a modern sports bike).
However you will never have the 'jam your foot down' you can on a car; you do have to have some control.
If styling is your main concern; then only you can decide which bike you like. Personally I think a £400 old tatty GN a load more stylish for a learner than a £3k derbi 125 or whatever. |
