Hi all

I was just wondering how old a person had to be to own a certain bike, engine size (cc) wise I mean.

For example...

16 year old - 50cc only I believe.
17 year old - Up to 125cc if I am correct.

What comes after that ??

Thanks, Bye Daniel.

16 year old - up to 50cc (less than 30mph)
17 year old - up to a 125cc (limited to somthing like 22bhp i think)

Or at 17 you can choose to take your Restricted access where you can have any bike aslong as it is restricted to 33bhp.

I dont know when you are allowed to take the restrictors off tho...

If it's a provisional licence, then it's 125cc with a maximum power output of 11kW (14.6bhp).

Take a look at https://www.begin-motorcycling.co.uk/ for all the info. Also there's plenty of info in old/sticky posts about this so you could try a search.

16 - 50cc not exceding 30mph
17 - 125cc not exceding 14.6bhp
Assuming you pass your test when you are 17 restricted to any bike not exceding 33bhp
19 - Restriction lifted, you can ride anything

Other alternative is DAS Direct Access course which you can do your test aged 21 on a bike over 45bhp or something and you are never restricted.
