Hi everyone only found this forum today and it looks good!

Im new to biking ive done my CBT and a couple of days out on the 125s. Im considering getting a 125 to practice on for my direct access as frankly my second ride sucked big time so I want to get my bike control dialed down much more at my own leisure.

I was thinking of the classic cg but ive also seen a cagiva planet 125 for about 1.5 although the service history is sounding suspect ie owner serviced, oil replaced when warning light comes on (in cars i was under the impression that when the oil warning light comes on your already damaging your engine as youve lost oil pressure, is this the same for two strokes) Should I avoid like the plague, be sensible and get a CG and flog it when I pass (hopefully sooner rather than later.

One last thing bike insurance seems so cheap compared to when I was a new car driver and they wanted a 4 figure sum for a 1.1 metro. CG was £190 quote!! Planet was £289 tpf Very Happy

ps. the hazard poerception theory test is an absolute pile of arse, talk about random, "you score 0 points" er no you stupid machine

Get a cheap CG if you are going to be doing DAS fairly soon and getting a bigger bike.

If you intend to keep the bike for a while, then the planet would make a good choice.

2 stroke bikes have seperate 2 stroke oil; this is mixed with the petrol. The light comes on when this is running low.

Check what 2 stroke oil was used.

Owner serviced is often better than dealer serviced; dealers often don't care much about customers bikes. Especially if they get more money when they go wrong Confused.

Thanks G the reason I ask about the planet is that i reckon i could get it for about 1400 so not a million miles more than the CG it looks in imaculate cond in pics. The 2nd owner and seller said he changed the oil to synthetic oil so i guess the previous owner ran it on semi or some sort of mineral stuff. He seems a pretty genuine seller via email correspondance even admitted to dropping it once, but no damage. Is the Planet a mito engine sans fairing, if so is it restricted to 15hp?

Is their a mileage where these 2 stroke engine would need any rebuilding its got 6800 miles at the mo

Thanks

A top end rebuild will probably be at about 10k miles. This is fairly cheap and easy to do. 6,800 miles isn't much.

You should be able to get an ok cg125 for around £400.

I wouldn't want to be paying a lot for one.
