Just bought a GSX750F. started & drove 50 miles home yesterday without a hitch. Very Happy Changed a couple of blown bulbs tonight ready for the imminent MOT & decided a test ride would be fun . . .
Started a treat but every time I put her in gear she dies. Stone dead. It's as if there is some sort of electronic cut-out operating. She won't even turn over if I try to start her in gear so there must be some sort of over-ride preventing that.
Could I have knocked a lead behind the ignition switch? There isn't much room for banana fingers in there. Embarassed
Thanks in advance (if I can get this posted correctly)

Side stand cut out?

You won't be able to do any of those things with the sidestand down!

Agree, could be sidestand switch - easy enough to check - put up the sidestand!

Could also be the gear/clutch sensor doobry whatdoyoucallit switch playing up. Usually prevents bike from starting up in gear. If not sidestand then next time try holding clutch in and restarting.

I never had that touble with my BSA C12!!

I think you may have hit it in one!
My driveway slopes quite a bit & the bike is wedged between a couple of cars. I didn't fancy trying it with all the stands up in case I dropped it onto a car or rolled back into the garage doors.

Cor these "modern" bikes are dead clever aren't they! At least too clever for this Ole Git.

I'm off to test it now & will update you when I get back (if the
hospital allows internet access that is!)

Definitely was the propstand cut-out. Whatever will they think of next? It would have been a lot easier if the former owners had thought to keep the handbook for me!

Thanks for such a prompt and helpful response. I wonder what idot question I will need to ask next? - No, don't answer that. Antway the lights are all working correctly now although the brake lights aren't terribly consistent so I will be out there with my meter tomorrow checking switches and wiring.

Well done & thanks again. Not so Grumpy Grandad.
