PostPosted: 18:41 - 23 Jan 2005    Post subject: [HELP!] Insurance Question Reply with quote

I am asked how much no claims bonus I have, on the quote website thingie...

...Now I haven't made any claims in the past year (or had any claims made against me), so does this mean I get a NCB?
The reason I ask is because it only mentions NCB in my insurance paperwork with regard to how much discount I am eligible for as the discount increases.

If you haven't claimed or been claimed against for 12 months then you'll have 1 year NCB.

Is that what you meant?

Also add a few hundred quid for an online quote as they are so vague with the questions. If you can buy online, tnen thats differant

I had a online quote, phoned up to buy it and had £100's added.

If you've had a years insurance by the time it runs out, without claiming, you get yourself a nice 1 years no claims bonus. Thumbs Up

If you renew your policy for another bike from the same insurer, do you still get a NCB from the previous bike, or can't they be carried over?

If they can, what happens if you get a policy for another bike before the year runs out? Will they reimburse any money proportional to the time the policy was taken to when the NCB came into effect?

They will do everything possible to not give you discount and to take all the money they can - they're insurers.

The bike's largely irrelevant, you get 1 year NCB for each year's continuous insurance on one policy. End it before the year and get nothing. Changing bike doesn't matter, as long as it's the same policy.

NCB is stated at the beginning of the policy, you can't call up and change it later, so if you suddenly had 1 year appear from one policy when you're 3 months into another - tough.

What if you continued the same policy for a different bike before the year was over? Would you get a new quote and then once the year was over for that policy, would you only get a reduction on the next renewal i.e 2yrs NCB?
