If at the time of renewing your insurance policy you have an outstanding claim does the insurance company automatically count it against you? Or do they wait till it has been resolved?

They do want to know about claims against you which are still being resolved.

Unfortunately the claim will be counted against you until/if it is settled in your favour. If they make a full recovery of all of their losses, then they will reinstate any NCB that you lost as a result of that claim, and if you didn't make another claim in that policy term, they'll give you another years NCB and amend your renewal policy premium accordingly.

Cheers

I thought that would be the case, I didn't think it would be to my advantage knowing what insurance companies are like! Rolling Eyes
Unfortunately I seem to have been hit by a driver belonging to a particularly awkward one who won't act until pushed.
