thinking about an early vtr but i hear the tank is a bit small ( as with the hornet ..)
Anyone know of a tank(s) from another bike that will fit either of these without too much hassle ... ?!

My question is:

Why? Whats wrong with the original tank? Wouldnt it look a bit wrong if you put a larger tank on a bike that it wasnt designed for.

Have a look at 'The tank shop' website. Google for it.

Buy a tank from a later VTR; '02 on I think...

Or buy a VFR800! Wink

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

MarJay..
I know your comment was tongue in cheek, but another VFR is an option ( currently run an old 750 )..
i like the VTR, though ... if I can get a bigger tank then best of both worlds !

Failing that , its a Triumph then ... !

Sorry was feeling bit mischevious Razz
Yeah, the later models tank should fit but it will have only slightly more capacity at best.

Where in europe?

Posibilites...

Larger tank, couldn't say if another will fit, you could try asking at a breakers and go for a fitting session and see what does... because appart from somebody doing it allready anything else is just guessing Sad

Auxiluary tank, a seperate pumped tank where a top box would live.

Jerry cans, depending on where your going you would need to check on the legalities (or hide them well) you would still need to stop, but you can stop where you want to Razz also aleviates the worry of running out... for all the hassle and cost, personaly i'd get a 20litre steel army surplus jerry can mounted somewhere and covered with something inconspicuous.

zero ... I was hoping someone might have already done the trial and error fitting thing , otherwise I might be a trail blazer ............ Smile

Nice idea though it is , I think a 20 litre army jerry can is something of a last resort ........... !!

I did ask the tank shop in Dumfries, still waiting answer .......... let you know if I get anywhere ...
