A messy half hour spent with a scrubbing brush and some paraffin will see lightly rusted chains good as new (don't nick your mothers best scrubbing brush if you want to live, buy a new 50p one for the job). If all the links move freely after then no worries. Make sure you give it a good lube up after, I like to do it with a spot of oil applied to each link then worked back and forth, others prefer wax sprays.
Latex gloves are a good idea for this job. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
