Is there anyway i can make my bike better at electric start because i have to bump it every time at the moment. The bike is heavy so this is hard to do and is quite annoying. The bike is a sachs xtc125 2001 (2 stroke). there is nothing wrong with the electric start as after its been running for a bit it'll start up straight away.
Thanks

Have you tried replacing the spark plug as they only last for so long with the sparking becoming poor. Do also try using Silkolene's Pro FST as it's designed to clear up problems with your carbs causing a bike to start poorly. Plus giving the battery a full charge along with checking that the battery's water is not below the minimum level and if it is top up with some distilled water and don't use tap water instead because your water board may have put additives in it !

Here's the info about Silkolene's Pro FST copied from their homepage;

Pro FST - Fuel System Treatment for all scooter and motorcycle engines
A fully effective carburettor de-icer which also guards against cold start engine wear and fuel system corrosion. Combats carburettor sticking and jet blocking. Effective in all unleaded and leaded fuels. Suitable for 2 and 4-stroke engines. Also combats minor pre-ignition effects.

I did the same as you with charging the battery which didn't help and so tried replacing the spark plugs and added Silkolene Pro FST - Wolla! the bike starts everytime .

Just a small point, but a 125cc 2-stroke should be a piece of piss to bump start. You do it in second gear.

dont knock it into gear as your running, put it into the gear you want, personally i use 1st on the rare times ive bump started a bike, then run with the clutch in, when your running fast enough(which is slower in 1st than 2nd) let go of the clutch and jump on the seat to give the rear wheel extra traction and it should fire up. once the wheel is spinning then if it wont start you should just be able to keep running with it. best to be downhill.

jump starting 50cc-125cc is piss easy, u dont even need to run
jump starting a inline 4 is a bit more tricky
running down a hill is a good start
only if u know u can get back up it again if it dont start Very Happy

I have found, on the rare occassions i needed to bump start my NSR, that try to bump from second or even first just locks up the back wheel. It only does this when trying from a cold engine. The only way it works when cold is to ren with the bike in neutral, pull the clutch in then put it in first.

I don't think this is an underlying problem as I have tried bumping (to put my mind at rest Very Happy ) in the traditional way when the engine is warm and it works fine.

I find that the clutch always drags a bit making it harder to push. I tend to get up to speed then just knock it into gear.

All the best

50 maybe but im having trouble because it is really heavy for a 125 i bumped it today by myself then i stalled it Sad but the electric start worked so off i went. I then got back to my house came back later and it wouldn't start again!! So i tried to bump it again (getting very tierd). I think it could be the spark plug so i'll take it out and have a look. But anyother ideas?
thanks adam

It could be a number of reasons, spark plug is usually the first thing to check, check it first before thinking about alternatives.

You may want to just replace it anyway, only about £4
