Hi everyone.

Well I just made my journey back from college on my winter bike (CG125) and I've never been so glad to be home. I set off from college and instantly after coming out, some guy in a fiesta pulls out in front of me from another road, almost hitting me clean off the bike, thank god he put his anchors on a millisecond earlier. That really shook me up as I've never came very close to being hit before. So I stop and talk to my friend for a few minutes, let me nerves get back to normal. Well I set back off home, so far so good, riding through town and it happens again! Some woman in an old clio is in the wrong lane and she came very close to hitting my front wheel this time! Geez, once is enough, but twice, thats just scary. I'm quite a safe rider and tend not to do anything stupid, (cant really do anything stupid on a 14 year old CG either. Laughing) I finally got home and quickly got the bike away, just happy to be off the thing for today. Its really put me down as I love being on the bike but today, I just couldnt wait to get off it. Sad

I'm guessing that every biker has their ups and downs and it was just my turn for the downs today.

I'd hate to think what the story would be had one of those cars hit me, especially as my whole family are in Edinburgh for a day or two. Scary thought but I'm grateful its not the scenario right now.

Sorry to rant a little, but I had to get it out my system. I think I'll be leaving the bike in the garage for the rest of the day, really dont feel like going back out. Confused

Don't leave it there too long. It's a bummer when you have one of those days when everyone is out to get you, but if you dwell on it the thought will fester and make it harder to get back out there.

Crikey!

Glad you got back in one piece.

Don't worry about not being keen to get on the bike again, that heart-stopping, all over electric shock feeling is not the best frame of mind to go out on the bike with (espesh in this weather).

I'm sure you will feel calmer tomorrow.

I heard of a tactic to get back on a bike if you have had a really bad experience and are wary or just plain scared to go back on the bike.
The important thing is not to rush it, don't go out on the bike 'cos everyone says you should. It should be your decision.
What might help those people that are pretty traumatised is to put on alll your gear, leathers, lid, boots, gloves, and then just go out and sit on the bike. For the first few times don't even take your keys. Just sit there. Do this several times a day.
Put on all your stuff, go out and sit.
When you are ready start the engine for a bit, and sit there, switch it off and go back indoors and change into civvy clothes.

After 3-4 days of this malarky, you will be so pissed off at putting all your gear on for no reason at all, and having all your neighbours think that you are a complete t*t, that will will start up your bike and go out for a ride!
Cured!

Very Happy

Obviously, Keith, you aren't suffering from post traumatic stress disorder? Are you?

Laughing No. This little downer couldnt send me away from bikes at all. Been on them too long to just abandon them for the sake of 2 close encounters with the caged kind. Mr. Green

Now I'm all relaxed after a rest. Thumbs Up I will be back on the bike tomorrow for college but I doubt I'll be using it unless I need to for the rest of today. It was probably a sign that I might not be so lucky next time so its best to leave the bikes tucked away for a while.

I have come off bikes before but never involved with other vehicles, or in the middle of a busy town center. Just have to get back up and get back on. I've loved bikes for a long time and want to appreciate them for even longer.

Take it easy everyone. Thumbs Up

I think everyones had a day like this. It usually starts off with having to bump start the bike, and ends with a puncture as you put it in the garage at night Evil or Very Mad
