first time posting so apologies if i've done summat wrong. I have a Kwak zx6r G2 (1999) for trackdays and want to buy some spare wheels to fit full wet tyres. My local dealer says i must have the wheels specific to this model as no others fit. Is this true or is he just trying to screw me? The brakes (6 pot tokico's)are not too brilliant either. I've changed pads, fluid, fitted braided hoses and replaced the piston seals in the calipers. They have no "bite" as compared to my fireblade and the lever still feels a bit spongy even though they have been bled and re-bled. Are these brakes just generally crap or have i missed something? Thanks in anticipation.

1. load of shite, i have wheels from a G1 on my G2 currently, as the old ones where fecked...which came from a J1.

2. the brakes i found are pretty good, mine are using standard lines and oil, just some HH pads, and i got all the feeling i need, the levers are spongy tho, i can pull them back pretty far when im stopped, but once im moving, the slightest touch on the lever and im banging into the tank.

A guy i worked with fitted an AP master cylinder to his 99 gsxr track bike (which use the same calipers and line set up) and he said it sorted the problem.

obviously not a very cheap option tho

Thumbs Up

They are always a bit spongey, but don't lack in stopping power.

What pads have you chosen? I can highly reccomend Carbone Loraine SBK3; which I have on my zx9r E1.

Are your discs okay, might be worth looking at getting some wavey brake discs. Confused

Also, you mention you're after some ZX6R G2 wheels, I am breaking a whole ZX6R G2 at the moment, if you're interested details are on this page.

I think the standard brakes need sometime getting set up properly..
I've had mines for 6 months and I've finally managed to get them feeling right. Lots of bite and stopping power. Lots of patients and bleeding them till they are right..

Hi Craig - the wheels on it at the moment are stamped J17x3.5 on the front and J17x 5.5 on the rear - does this mean i can use other wheels as long as these numbers are stamped on them. my mrs is not to impressed with the new master cylinder scenario and thinks we should pay the gas bill first!
