Anyone out tonight in any sort of rain but especially the heavy downpour in sheffield i sypathise with you. I was riding round wearing full leathers, 2 pairs of socks, waterproofs, extra jumper over them, blaclaver, snood and lid boots and thermal gloves.

I was wet through and freezing cold. Its been a total joke trying to avoid every tram line, white line (hard in a city) and any joining line from roadworks!

Just had a long hot bath, loosened up and my heart rate has just fallen!

Not a nice ride, not a nice night, maybe the car test will crop up quicker than i thought!

Bike test next month, car test month after maybe!

anyhow, take it steady in that poor weather brothers and sisters!

Rain is heavy as shit here feels like yout you are being hit by an under powered paint ball gun and soaks you very very quickly. And can leave about 1 inch of standing water on some roads which is scary as shit when you hit on the highway.

Lookin' for adventure...?

My bikes under a cover out in the rain, or it was when it was raining Confused , contemplating carrying the bike up two flights of stairs, and wondering what the BF would say when he found it in the bedroom Twisted Evil

I could dry it off with his Car magazines

believe me, iv done plenty of wet riding through sheffield, but when the weather is likeit wa last night, it becomes a total joke. Because sheffield is built on hills, the rains always moving in little streams and ends up collecting down at park square roundabout, where it was really deep, imagine riding through nothing but puddles.

Even on a 125 its scary putting any throttle on, ended up coasting with the clutch in wenever i was going down hill, just using the engine for that last little bit of breaking

I had fun on the NSR in the bad weather, bike got so wet that the HT coil blew and left me by the side of the road until it was towed to a mechanics.

I picked the bike up later that day, after a whole day of the weather absolutely hammering it down (I mean marble sized raindrops!!!), and had to change my route home because the dip under the bridge that i go under was 3 foot deep in water - it had a car stuck in it Shocked .

I took an alternative route home, went through a puddle, thought "oh it's only a small one".
Next thing I knew, I had water spraying up my back, onto my head, and running down my collar down my back, while water sluiced into my boots Laughing .

I carried on round the road and came to a juntion with the main road, where a passing HGV was kind enough to send a tsunami at me Laughing .

Here your told by signs if you see a puddle dont hit it cause it could be something stupidly deep like 4 feet. Wink

I sympathise with you - I used to be a motorcycle courier, and would often do long distance Uk runs. I night I dropped in London, then as heading out to go to Portsmouth I could see the lightning and rain storm in the distance. Left Portsmouth at 10 pm with 4 hours to get back to Essex, was knackered and it hammered it down for the whole journey - on unfaired bike!

Sheffield roads are, by and large, diabolical, and the city council are a joke with their roadworks and idiotic one-way system past the station rather than allowing traffic straight onto the parkway Confused . I'm lucky I've not had to ride through in the rain yet, but it's only a matter of time.

Mosborough roads are unsuitable for anything less than a hovercraft/ trailie with a foot of suspension travel. Shocked
