 |
|
hi,
every morning when i go to start my NSR 125 R, i put the choke out, and wait a while for it to warm up a bit. I then put the choke in and give it a bit of a rev up to 8k revs.
The thing is when i rev it up a hell of a lot of white smoke comes out for about 10 seconds non stop. It then dissapears and everything is normal.
If i start the bike up when it is warm or has been used a few hours before there is no smoke at all and starts up without choke fine.
The smoke is only there in the cold mornings. I was just wondering if it normal for all that smoke to be there.
Also do i have to rev it up and get rid of all the smoke before i ride or should it be fine? Damn neighbours complain about the noise (well the old gits). It is not even that loud
Cheers ,
Cyrus

I usually leave the choke on until he revs start dropping (from about 3-5k) to just over idle. Choke off and blip slightly to avoid stalling. From there I just pull away and wait to get to temperature before going past 5-6k revs. ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/fuzzbcf/

Well my scooter wouldnt start at all this morning because the air was so damp. It REALLY hates the cold!
And to make things worse, my radiator pipe cracked and coolant was EVERYWHERE!
Im going to be busy tomorrow.
Oh, and with the white smoke, I think its just the moisture coming out.
Nothing to worry about...

My NSR (just rebuilt), start it with the choke on and let it run until it sounds like it's gonna stall...
....then I have the choke off and just keep blipping the throttle until the temp guage reads ok .
Not like Lee - when he had his RS50, he warmed it up by redlining it until smoke stopped coming out of the exhaust!
I kid you not! ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/nsrandy/96rs250/ My Bike!

Cheers for the information. This morning i started it with choke out for about 30 secs then put the choke in and blipped the throttle to about 2k a couple of time and then just let it to warm up. There was no way as much smoke as before. Works fine now! Cheers!
...It wouldnt do if we needed a quick getaway ( takes about 5 mins to warm up) lol
