I have a bought a new bike! Confused Very Happy

Now, I had done a little bit of shopping for a new bike, but you know when you think you have spotted such a bargain you can't resist? I found one on Saturday. I am guilty of impulse buying. Embarassed

It's a brand new (well, pre reg) Bandit 600 K4, in silver and unfaired. Cost was £3000 inc restriction kit which they chucked in for free. I still have 1 and a half years warranty left.

The only downside is that it is still 3 months til my 17th birthday, so, I still gotta pass me test as well, but it is definately an incentive now.

I know I will get a fair few replies saying I am stupid for going from a moped to a 600, or that I have spent too much on a new bike, but this is clearly in my conscience. I want a bike with a bit of character and something that will last me a good few years. It has already lost most of it's depreciation value.

I'm afraid there will be no pics for a while because I don't want it delivered til near my birthday, cause I will be too tempted to keep starting it up in the garage and eventually running out the battery. Rolling Eyes

Anyway, soon, I will no longer be a ped boi.
Peace out. Jon. Cool

FWIW I dont think it's a stupid move. Just take your time, learn from your training and you will be fine and enjoy the bike Smile

Congrats

Nope not at all, I marked the days down 1 by 1. IMO the jump from 50 to 600 won't be bad because you will bridge it with the training on a 125. Then the 600 is goig to be 33bhp (for a while at least Razz) and that helps to introduce you slowy.

good luck and i hope you pass your test and get on the real road and come to meets and stuff.

i rode bigger bikes before i past my test.
but when i took my bike past the 10,000rpm mark wooo its totally unreal and super dangerous
take it easy on that beast

btw my cbr was never 33bhp

I'd say a scooter to a 33hp bike is an ideal progression.
It's got a bit more go than a 500 for when you take the restrictors out.

The price makes it not to bad a buy compared to low mileage second hand bikes, so can't criticise too much there Smile.

i do hope you have a 5 day course booked to get good with geared bikes too... No offence but even a restricted bandit 6 will be a bit tasty to someone with little gear experience. Altho main thing is weight.

But good luck, and dear god am i jealous Razz

Well I am definately gonna book my theory for my birthday, which is on the Friday, then do my lessons over the weekend and Monday, possibly Tuesday. Then Test ASAP, how long you reckon it will take to get a test date? Smile

Out of interest what kind of insurance are you paying / going to be paying and also generally how much does it roughly cost to do a few lessons and take your bike test?

Good luck with the bike and everything btw. Thumbs Up

I haven't even bothered looking at insurance yet, hopefully much under £1000 TPFT, seeing as I live in good area. I will get quotes once I have passed. Smile

I reckon it will cost about £500 to do one of those intensive course thingies. Smile

£500 is about right for the course, for about £600 you can get a guaranteed pass. I'd recommend that just incase. You should have some road sense as you have been on a scoot so It shouldn't be that hard for you. Thumbs Up

I made it a personal aim never to forget the lifesaver looks, just because they um, save your life and help a lot with the test. TBH, I'm more worried about making a silly mistake in the theory test. Confused Laughing

When you do the DAS, the training school will have test slots booked so you could do it all in a week Wink

Book your theory now mate! you don't have to be 17 to take the theory. At test centre they call it a moped test but on the actual test its called a motorbike test. Its the same thing and once that has been taken you can take your test sooner. Well thats what i did, you can make sure your theory is out the way by your 17th Birthday

Paul, you were right, I just checked the DSA sight, it is for Car Drivers that can;t take a theory til they are 17! That's great news, I will take it in the next few weeks then hopefully, they are valid for 6 months aren't they? Smile

Hi

Go for your theory test now if you can.

Sounds like you got a good deal on the bike, but be careful. It is one hell of a jump in power and weight.

All the best
