Come here often?
Err… wait, not. Wrong line.
Anyway, it's looking very, very likely that I'll get my hands on the VFR400 (the NC30 kind, thank you). After a hell of a lot of reading on the GSXR, ZXR and RVF/VFR, the VFR came across to me as the best value for money. Apparently relatively easy to maintain, parts are cheaper than a Thai ladyboy hooker (not that I'd know ) and just as widespread.
Honestly, even the unbelievably fugly™ styling is growing on me (but it'd still get the Tyga treatment).
Now, the point of this thread (yes, it has one) – how much do you think a good VFR is worth. I emphasise the "you" because I'd like to know from a consumer point of view and not that of the dealers'.
Fundamentally, I'm looking at ones between 0-15,000 miles range, though I would consider higher if inspection shows it's in excellent condition.
I'm more concerned with it being excellent mechanically and decent cosmetically – though I draw the line at cracks. Why, you ask, even if it'll get some Tyga fibreglass? Simple, I'll be selling the bodywork in order to recoup some of the money spent on the fibreglass.
Searches on AutoTrader and MCN come up with sums between 1,000 and 2,500 on the former, but the latter brings up very high prices indeed, and I don't feel like touching those – above 2,500 to around 3,500.
Given my haggling skills and charming personality *cough*, I'd look to spend around 2,000 give or take a few hundreds, so 1700-2200 or there about. Reasonable?
*goes off to wash dishes since he's noticing pyramids being erected on one of the plates…*
Ah, the joy of being a student. |
