Hi all,
I Recently done a whole engine change, however after taking it out again i came across a few problems! I'm not gettin much power into acceleration and when I brake, there's a wooing noise as if all the power has been drained from the bike... The Rev display just immediately drops to 1000rpm and stays there til I go again. I think it may have something to do with the Power Valve settings, Or can the valve be the wrong way round? If any has any solutions plz reply. Thanx

Hi

The valve can be upside down but this just looses you a load of power.

Is this a late RS with the 122 engine? If so the rev counter is electronic. If it is dropping down without the actual revs dropping then it suggests an electronic problem. First thing I would check is that all the connections are clean and tight. Also check the clearance between the crankshaft pickup and the flywheel (should be ~0.5mm).

All the best

Keith

I sorted my Power Valve out this mornin when it clicked it must be upside down so I changed it and now the power output is what its supposed to be... As I changed that it seemed to sort out the problem of the revs Rolling Eyes I also adjusted the carb to sit at the normal rate set by Aprilia.. Thanx Keith tho... Its all working fine now after a long rebuild, lol!
