My husband is currently deployed and due back in about 45 days. I want to surprise him with a new bike, but have never purchased one before. I know with auto salesman I can haggle, can I haggle with bike shops as well? Thanks!

Hmmm, I think top tip would probably be "don't do it" unless you know exactly what style/size/make of bike he would like.

By all means haggle with the salesman, but owning and riding a bike is a very personal thing.

Surprise him by taking him to the dealership and saying "which one do you want", not by letting him come home to find the one you like best sat on the patio!

That would be a great suprise, have to agree with babyyam!

The phase, a kid in a sweet shop comes to mind!!!

maybe get an idea of what shops that you have around you so that when he comes back you can take him round all of them! thats one type of shopping men do like! Very Happy
If you do have an idea what bike he may what, do some research into the prices for them and see which shop has the best deals nearer the time he comes back

Thanks for the tips! He has told me exactly what he wants, but I have decided that you are right, he should probably pick it out. I have already been preapproved so I will have him go and get one. I remember doing that for his truck, taking him to the dealership and saying pick something and he was pretty excited, cannot wait til he comes home and gets his bike.

Remember to allow for the cost of insurance.

There is nothing worse than buying a new bike, only to have it sitting there unrideable cause you cannot afford the insuance Mr. Green
