Hmmm, I think top tip would probably be "don't do it" unless you know exactly what style/size/make of bike he would like.
By all means haggle with the salesman, but owning and riding a bike is a very personal thing.
Surprise him by taking him to the dealership and saying "which one do you want", not by letting him come home to find the one you like best sat on the patio! ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate.  |

That would be a great suprise, have to agree with babyyam!
The phase, a kid in a sweet shop comes to mind!!!
maybe get an idea of what shops that you have around you so that when he comes back you can take him round all of them! thats one type of shopping men do like!
If you do have an idea what bike he may what, do some research into the prices for them and see which shop has the best deals nearer the time he comes back

Remember to allow for the cost of insurance.
There is nothing worse than buying a new bike, only to have it sitting there unrideable cause you cannot afford the insuance  |
